Coming Soon: SheScores App

She has a Tony Award and an MBA. She's also building the next big women's sports app. Dana Lerner is building the SheScores app, a live scoreboard dedicated entirely to women's sports, and it's coming soon to iOS and Android. It will offer scores, schedules, and results for professional leagues, all in one place, so fans won't have to worry about “switching between apps or digging around to find the leagues that don't get mainstream coverage,” Lerner said.

SheScores is designed to be a very simple app to navigate. Lerner said that from day one it was a top priority to make it user-friendly, and she explained how user feedback supports this. When you first go into the app you immediately see today's scoreboard, and you can browse by league or by date and favorite your teams to keep track of them. It's an ad-free, data-first dashboard, and you can even sync match schedules straight to your phone's calendar with one tap.

SheScores will offer coverage on more than 15 professional leagues and tournaments, with more to come. Some of these include the WNBA, the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), the Northern Super League (NSL), and the Women's Pro Baseball League (WPBL). It will also cover tournaments such as the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.

One of the best features of this app is the depth of coverage. If you're a fan of a smaller league such as the PWHL, Women's Elite Rugby (WER), or the Women's Lacrosse League (WLL) that typically doesn't have coverage on other apps, you'll be able to find it here on SheScores. Lerner chose this so smaller leagues can also become more known.

Lerner built this app solo from the ground up. She is a non-technical founder, so she used AI-powered tools to build it. She said the technical part of the app wasn't particularly difficult; it was figuring out which leagues mattered the most. She needed to decide what data to show and how to build something that didn't exist yet.

She built this app for what she wanted to see as a fan. As a lifelong athlete, Lerner approached it from a fan's perspective and really understood what she wanted to create. She said she was frustrated that she couldn't find leagues such as the PWHL alongside a league like the WNBA.

This caused her to miss out on information and games. She created SheScores with all women's sports fans who have the same dilemma in mind.

In terms of how Lerner sees success for SheScores in the near future, she is most focused on its growth and visibility. She wants the app in front of as many women's sports fans as it can reach. She would also like to see strong daily user numbers and app downloads. As for the further future, she sees the app developing into a partnership model. In her eyes, this looks like licensing their scoring technology to colleges and conferences, as well as partnering with media companies who cover women's sports to supplement their scores and schedules.
